This three day program is intended for students that are new to the QLD Coal mining industry.  If you have mining experience, please look through the refresher information or contact us to discuss.

Important Notice to Underground people:

  • Section [s272] of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 states that a person under the age of 16 years is not permitted to be employed underground
  • To bridge to QLD Coal UG, you must hold current Std11 Coal Surface evidence
  • Metalliferous underground experience will not be sufficient to challenge test the QLD Coal Underground. The Add-On Underground program listed above will be your training course, given you hold current Std11 Coal Surface evidence.

Assessment Method:multiple-choice & short answer, group activities, practical demonstration and workplace experience

RII.ERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents

Qualification outcome:

A Statement of Attainment  in partial completion of RII20315 Certificate II in Underground Coal ^

^ the statement of attainment is issued once requirements have been met for each competency unit.  For cleanskins new to the resource industry, a work experience log book may be required to complete within 3-12mths of the course.

Course information 

These units from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package meet the Queensland Coal industry requirements for the Recognised Standard 11 Training in coal mines.
